Bowling: Wolves fall to Bulldogs on lanes

A short-handed Sequim bowling squad went 0-2 last week, first dropping a 6-1 decision at North Mason on Dec. 12.

Morgan Kayser led the Wolves with a 130-pin first game and 244-pin series, but Sequim fell 585-511 in game one, 580-542 in game two and 165-102 in the first Baker game. Their lone win came in a 118-87 second Baker game.

Kimberly Heintz was Sequim’s No. 2 scorer with a 229-pin series.

Sequim was missing varsity starters Nikoline Updike and Skylar Kryzworz.

Two days later, the Wolves — shorthanded once more, missing Updike and Heintz — dropped a 6-1 decision to Klahowya, their final league match before Winter Break.

Kayser led Sequim with a 299-pin series (149-150) and Kryzworz bowled a solid first game (130) in defeat. Behind Salina Stroup’s 345-pin series, Klahowya — a perennial state competitor — took the regular games 768-547 and 736-523. Sequim earned a 139-135 win in the first Baker game before falling in the second 131-111.

The Wolves (3-8) are off until Jan. 4, when they host the Olympic Trojans, whom they beat 6-1 on Nov. 28. Sequim plays at Olympic on Jan. 9 and hosts Bremerton on Jan. 11.
