Got Crab? defeated Crabbie Patties 21-18, 17-21, 15-8 in the championship match to win the first Crab Fest Beach Volleyball Tournament, held Saturday, Oct. 9, at Hollywood Beach in Port Angeles.

Eric Palenik, Christine Halberg and Jennifer and Jeff Reynolds teamed up to win the four-person coed tournament, which was held on the new beach volleyball court built by R.J. Services in cooperation with the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department. Nuts N Honey and Megabites tied for third.

The teams endured rain showers throughout the day but finished under sunny skies. The event was a fundraiser for Port Angeles Volleyball.

Dave Uranich and Rebecca Gooding raced to victory in the first CrabFest 5-Kilometer Fun Run, held Sunday, Oct. 9, on the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Uranich, of Port Angeles, crossed the finish line in 20:20 to win the men’s overall and the 40-over division titles, while Gooding, of Forks, was the first female runner in, clocking a 22:12 to lead the women’s 17-40 age group.

Other divisional winners included Andrew Chapman (men’s 17-40), Casi Fors (women’s 40-over), and Carly Gouge and Maria Soule, who tied for first in the girls’ 16-under class.

Proceeds of the event went to support Peninsula College’s women’s basketball program.
