Hope is still alive that the Wolves will take the Olympic League’s final playoff spot.

Sequim (5-10 in league and 7-12 overall) lost to the Bremerton Knights on Tuesday night 57-23 at home.

However, Kingston (6-9 in league and 8-11 overall) lost Tuesday as well to Klahowya 52-32.

If Sequim wins its last game Friday night at home against Port Townsend and Kingston loses, then the Wolves could play a tiebreaker for the final playoff spot against the Buccaneers since they split their games against one another.

That game would begin at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo.

The Knights proved to be a formidable team in the league, leading the Wolves throughout the game.

Sequim never broke double digits in a period and leading scorer Alexas Besand only scored two points and Caitlin Stofferahn sat out with an injured finger from the game last Thursday against Port Angeles.

Stofferahn said she hopes to be cleared for Thursday’s game against Port Townsend.

The Knights had three girls score in double digits — Eboni Harpes, 17, Terra Driskell, 14, Sawyer Kluge, 13 — and McKenzie Bentz and Emma Anderson led Sequim with five points each.

The Wolves lost their first game of the season against the Port Townsend Redskins.

Kingston finishes its season on Friday against Bremerton, whom they lost to on the road. However the Buccaneers hold a 5-2 record at home.
