Sequim’s squad looks to rebound this week after a pair of Olympic League losses to two top league teams.

On Oct. 1, Kingston defended its home (artificial) turf with a 3-0 win against the visiting Wolves. Katie Keller had a goal and two assists for the Buccaneers.

Missing several key pieces with injuries — forward McKenzie Bentz (strained ligaments in foot) and defender Mattie Clark (concussion) — Sequim kept it close, forcing a scoreless tie after one half. Sequim gave up two late goals to the Bucs, and then lost midfielder Maeve Harris with a right hand injury.

Sequim’s junior varsity squad topped the Buccaneers 2-1, getting goals from Nicole Anders and Abby Hanstad. Lily Engel, Kaitlyn Jackson and Emily Carter led the defense.

On Oct. 3, Klahowya topped the depleted Wolves in Sequim 5-0, getting a hat trick (three goals) from McKenzie Cook, two of them in the first half.

In JV action, Sequim topped Klahowya 5-1, with two scores from Hanstad and one each from Mia Delguzzi-Flores, Sydney Porlier and Chloie Sparks.

Sequim was scheduled to play at North Mason on Oct. 8 — results were not available at press time. The Wolves host league powerhouse North Kitsap on Oct. 10 and are at Klahowya on Oct. 12.
