CORRECTED Girls soccer: Six Sequim players selected for all-league honors

A spectacular season on the pitch has led to all-Olympic League selections for six Sequim girls soccer standouts, three on the first team and three on the second.

Taryn Johnson, the program’s all-time leading career goal-scorer was named to the first team, alongside fellow SHS seniors Jenny Gomez and Kaia Lestage.

Johnson, who finished her prep career with 79 goals and signed a letter of intent recently to play at Minnesota State-Makato, paced the Wolves with 27 goals (another school benchmark) this fall and added 11 assists.

It was Johnson’s third all-Olympic League first team selection in as many seasons.

Gomez, a midfielder, was second on the squad with 16 goals and added six assists. Lestage led a Sequim defense that held opponents to 13 goals in 14 regular season games and recorded six shutouts — including four in a row.

The selections were the second for both Gomez and Lestage.

Sophomore forward Raimey Brewer and freshman midfielder Olive Bridge were named to the all-league second team, as was junior defender Libby Turella.

Brewer had a key goal in a 3-2 overtime win at districts over Sammamish and had nine assists. Bridge scored three goals in her first prep season.

Mikah Winter was selected for the Sequim’s sportsmanship award.

Sequim went 13-5 this season, earning third place at districts and earning a state 2A tournament berth.

Evelyn Beers, senior midfielder for North Kitsap, was named Olympic League MVP.

Four Port Angeles players were named all-league selections, including first-teamers Isabelle Felton (forward) and Paige Mason (midfielder), and second-teamers Teanna Clark (midfielder) and Kennedy Rognlien (goalkeeper).
