Girls tennis: Wolves net wins over Bucs and Trojans, improve to 8-3

Sequim racked up five on-court wins and two victories by forfeit in a 7-0 sweep at Kingston on April 19.

Calleigh Thompson won at No. 1 singles, topping Christina Prescott 6-0, 6-1.

Sydney Hegvedt and Dani Herman picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bucs Kianna Clay and Kyle Sandstrum. Also earning wins were Tiffay Lam and Payton Smithson at No. 2 doubles, Amara Gonzalez and Sydney Thomas-Harris at No. 3 doubles, and Azlynn Judd and Kristine Prorok at No. 4 doubles — each in straight sets.

Sequim added a 7-0 sweep of Olympic on April 21 to complete their 2023 home schedule.

Kendall Hastings topped top Trojans singles player Bailey Walton 6-2, 6-3, while Thompson rebounded from a big early deficit in the first set to top Emlyn Coulter 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Tiffany Lam added a win in No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nya Shride.

The win helped the Wolves improve to 8-3.

Sequim was scheduled to finish the regular season on April 25 at rival Port Angeles; results were not available at press time.

The Wolves are at the Olympic League tournament May 2-3, with top singles players and doubles pairs advancing to the West Central District tournament (May 19-20)
