Irrigation Festival offers, 1-mile, 5k, half-marathon

Enjoy a short, fun run or go the distance at three races during the Sequim Irrigation Festival’s first weekend in early May.

The festival’s 5k and 1-mile fun runs will be on Saturday, May 6, starting at 10 a.m. at Carrie Blake Community Park near the James Center for the Arts band shell. The 5K is a timed event.

The 1-mile and 5K races are out-and-backs on the Olympic Discovery Trail.

All 1 mile participants will receive a collectable festival finisher’s medal. All 5K participants will receive a collectable festival finisher’s medal and a fun run hat. Packet pick-ups are at 8 a.m. the day of the race.

The half marathon is set for 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, starting at the Iconic Troll Haven Bandy Farm on Gardiner Beach Road in Gardiner, and finishing at Carrie Blake Community Park.

Packet pickup for the half marathon will be available Saturday, May 6th at Carrie Blake Park all day at Information Booth at the Innovative Arts and Crafts Show.

There will be a shuttle that leaves Carrie Blake Community Park prior to the start that will shuttle participants to the race start. There is not a shuttle, however, that will run from the finish to the start after the race. There is a gear check station at the start will be available at no charge.

There will be four hydration stations along the course that will have water and electrolytes. There will also be at least three Port-a-Potty stops along the trail.

Half marathon registrants receive a commemorative hat, race bib and finisher’s medal. Participants 21 and older receive a ticket for a beer at the beer garden. There will also be gear available for purchase at the finish line.

There is a virtual option available for those who would like to participate but cannot make it in person; swag will be mailed to virtual participants at no additional charge (within the United States).

Cost is $15 for the 1-mile run, $30 for the 5K, $80 for the half marathon and $60 for the virtual half marathon. Sing up at tinyurl.com/SEQifestRun.
