The 2A Sequim Wolves showed small schools can golf, too, with a 122-57 win against the 3A Vikings from Poulsbo on April 9.

Colby Rude earned medalist honors with a round of 77 for 31 Stableford points, followed by freshman star Ryan O’Mera, who shot an 81 for 27 points.

The Wolves also got

strong games in their 3-5 golfers, including identical rounds of 86 from Steve Loerlein and Jake Dethlefsen, and 20 Stableford points from Sean Lindstedt.

Coach Vic Quinet said he was particularly impressed with Loerlein, a junior.

"(Steve) works hard to improve his game – it is players like Steve that make solid play in the three, four, five and

six spots on the team that carry us to victory in many matches," Quinet said.

John Windust led the Vikings with a round of 87, good for 21 Stableford points.

The Sequim-North Kitsap girl’s golf match was canceled.

Both teams are slated to host Kingston April 16 and travel to Port Townsend on April 21.
