A host of Sequim Equestrian Team athletes are headed to the state meet after a solid finish in the team’s third and final district meet of the season, held March 30-April 1 in Spanaway.
The district meet featured about 100 competitors on 10 teams from Bellingham to Vancouver, Wa.
Yana Hoesel earned the Reserve Champion Timed Events buckle for District 4, second only to Port Angeles’ Cassi Ann Moore.
“Our girls did super,” Sequim coach Katie Salmon Newton said.
The team hosts its annual exhibition — open to the public — starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at Freedom Farms, 493 Spring Road, Port Angeles.

The state meet is set for May 17-20 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.
