Bowling team hosts car wash

Members of Sequim High School’s bowling team are hosting a fundraiser carwash from

9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, in the parking lot at Tarcisio’s Italian Place, 609 W. Washington St.

‘Muse’ ride goes 100 miles

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center hosts "Pedaling the Muse," a 100-mile bicycle ride along the Olympic Peninsula backroads and trails on Sept. 12.

The ride begins at the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park on Elliot Bay and culminates at the fine arts center’s Webster Woods Art Park.

There is a 50-mile version of the bike ride that starts at Port Angeles’ Hollywood Beach, goes to Sequim Bay State Park and back again.

The path includes the 26.2 miles of the Olympic Discovery Trail that makes up the North Olympic Discovery Trail marathon course.

Entry fees are $85 for the 100-mile ride and $60 for the 50-mile ride.

Funds raised go to the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center.

Sequim, P.A. cheer teams to play ‘Powder Puff’ game

Sequim and Port Angeles high school cheerleaders are challenging each other in a game of "powder puff" football at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Civic Field in Port Angeles.

Entry fee is by donation; funds raised go to breast cancer research.

SkyRidge hosts annual

WSU tourney

The eighth-annual North Olympic Cougar Golf Tournament is slated for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday, Aug. 30, at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

Hosted by the North Olympic Peninsula Alumni Association, Washington State University Alumni Association and SkyRidge, the tourney cost is $50 per person. The fee includes lunch, golfing, range balls, prizes and KPs. Honey pots are $20 extra; carts are $12 per seat.

Punt, pass, kick event

comes to Port Angeles

The Port Angeles Recreation Division is hosting the 2009 NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition starting at noon Sunday, Sept. 13, at Civic Field in Port Angeles.

The Punt, Pass & Kick Competition is a football skills competition for boys and girls ages 8-15 (as of Dec. 31, 2009).

All equipment will be provided. No football shoes/cleats/turf shoes are allowed; only gym shoes (soft sole) will be permitted. There is no charge to participate.

Top male and female finishers in each age group advance to the sectional competition. Participants should bring a copy of their birth certificate.

State prep sports get new TV show

AAA Washington Varsity News, a new show featuring highlights of state high school athletics, premiers in primetime on the Fox Sports News channel.

Beginning Sept. 2, the program offers TV coverage of Washington state high school athletics and "celebrates the unique stories of the games, area schools and athletes," according to a press release.

AAA Washington Varsity News airs each Wednesday night from 10:30-11 p.m. on FSN and is to be available the following day on Comcast On Demand. In addition, the show’s Web site, thevarsitynews.com, offers viewers the chance to interact with the show by uploading their own video and sharing their stories.
