Erik Wiker, Sequim High School’s varsity football head coach, was named The Seattle Seahawks co-Coach of the Week in early September following Sequim’s 58-7 win at Forks.
Wiker was named Coach of the Week along with Auburn High School head coach Gordie Elliott.
The Seahawks and Sterling Savings partner to name NFL High School Coaches of the Week during the 2010 football season. Weekly recipients receive a $500 cash donation for their football program from the Seattle Seahawks and a $225 Sports Authority gift card plus a custom, replica jersey from Sterling Savings Bank.
"It’s a program award – it’s the coaches and the kids buying into a system," Wiker said.
Following the season, one coach will receive the Jim Ennis Award for High School Coach of the Year, with the winner receiving a $2,000 cash grant.
