Sequim’s boys tennis team is 6-0 heading into this week’s showdown with Port Angeles, picking up a pair of wins against Bremerton and North Kitsap.

On Sept. 25, Sequim blanked Bremerton’s Knight 7-0.

Byron Boots and Michael Lee topped Doug Erickson and Matt Pohl in No. 1 doubles (6-3, 6-1) while Waylon Lam and David Richards won in

No. 2 doubles (6-3, 6-4) against Bremerton’s Will Estvanik and Shane Mundy.

Andrew Gunstone and Donovan Lee won in No. 3 doubles while teammates Evan Hill and Kelvin Li improved to 4-0 as doubles partners this season, winning the No. 4 doubles match in straight sets.

Sequim was scheduled to take on rival Port Angeles on Sept. 28. Results were unavailable at press time.

The Olympic League tournament is scheduled for Oct. 16.

Sequim routs NK

Sequim High’s boys tennis squad passed its first big test of the season early last week with a 6-1 victory at North Kitsap on Sept. 21.

Reed Gunstone won in No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Rex Olson while Maloney took down NK’s No. 2, David Gerstenberger, in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0.
