Holding on to hope

Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1033 N. Barr Road in Agnew, welcomes back speaker Bridget Laflin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15.

Her topic will be “The Arc of History is long … holding on to hope in a world spinning out of control.”

Laffin is a seminary student at Seattle University and hopes to become a Unitarian Universalist minister one day.

Interfaith trio to speak

The Interfaith Amigos, Pastor Don McKenzie, Rabbi Ted Falcon and Imam Jamal Rahman, who came together after the horrors of Sept. 11, 2001, will speak at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez, Ave., in Port Angeles, about their very own experience of crossing boundaries of ideology, race and religion, and overcoming divisions.

Taize service set

All are welcome to the ecumenical Taize service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23. In a meditative candlelit atmosphere which includes singing simple repetitive songs, one may simply sit peacefully during the hour long service or join in the chorus while experiencing the calming effect of being in God’s presence.

Taize will continue to be held the fourth Monday of each month.

Women’s inspirational weekend planned

The Olympic Peninsula Women’s Fellowship invites area women to an inspiring weekend of worship, prayer, teaching and fellowship from Feb. 24-25 at Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Lane, Sequim. Christian author Elisa Morgan is the featured speaker. Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday as the first session begins at 7 p.m. followed by Morgan’s talk “Accepting the Past.” Saturday events begin at 8 a.m. Register before Jan. 24 for $35, afterwards, $45.
