Sydney Swanson, a junior at Sequim High School, was recognized as the Sequim Sunrise Rotary’s October Career Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Month on Oct. 20.

She was joined by her family and SHS Culinary Arts instructor Dana Minard, who nominated Swanson.

Minard told the Rotary club that Swanson has a unique ability to grasp work situations quickly, solve problems or complete tasks, and to motivate other students in the same direction with her excellent work ethic.

Swanson said she has always loved to cook, and cites the SHS Leadership Program as an inspiration for her. She plans to attend a university after graduation in 2019 and enroll in a pre-dentistry program with hope to some day start her own pediatric dentistry practice.
