Women’s Fellowship hosts ‘Encounter Jesus’ weekend with author Liz Curtis Higgs Feb. 22-23 at SHS

Tickets remain on sale for the Olympic Peninsula Women’s Fellowship’s third annual inspirational weekend “Encounter Jesus” set for Feb. 22-23 at Sequim High School.

Last year’s event sold out, with women participating from 74 area churches and as far away as Alaska and California, organizers said.

This year brings author-speaker Liz Curtis Higgs leading sessions based on Jesus’ encounters with Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth and Mary Magdalene.

Curtis Higgs of Louisville, Ky., has written 37 books with nearly 5 million in print, including her latest, “31 Proverbs to Light Your Path.”

Her best-selling books range from nonfiction — “Bad Girls of the Bible, Really Bad Girls of the Bible, and Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible” — to historical novels.

She’s also spoken at nearly 2,000 conferences across the globe including all 50 states and 15 foreign countries. More than 4,500 churches have used her video Bible study series “Loved by God.”

For the weekend event, Tracie Marsh and her band Lost and Found lead worship music with a boxed lunch provided by The Sweet Beginning of Sequim. American Sign Language interpreters will be on-hand throughout the event.

Women can register online or print a mail-in registration form from the website at olympicpenin sulawomensfellowship.com.

Cost for the event is $35 for women and $25 for 18 and under through Feb. 1, and $10 more leading up to the event.

Olympic Peninsula Women’s Fellowship sponsors the event after forming in 2016, with the mission of unifying and encouraging women on the Olympic Peninsula. Its leadership team comprises of nine women representing five generations from five different churches.

The event runs 7-8:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Sequim High School’s auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave.
