PA’s Serenity House thrift store getting remodel, sets big sale

All prices are slashed at the Serenity House Port Angeles Thrift Store, 502 E. First St., to empty the historical church building in preparation for a complete business reorganization.

“Serenity House’s Sequim thrift store, in the past year, provided over $300,000 to pay for homeless services in Clallam County,” Serenity House Executive Director Dr. Richard Robinson said.

“The Port Angeles store will undergo a complete redesign to position it to also contribute substantially to our agency mission of preventing and ending homelessness.”

From now until the Port Angeles store closes on March 4, all merchandise is offered at 75 percent off the ticket price. The available inventory includes furniture, collectibles, housewares, home décor, clothing, books and specialty items.

“Serenity House is actively seeking a new and larger building to expand and an entrepreneurial store manager who also wishes to see the product of their efforts improve the lives of our less fortunate neighbors in Clallam County,” Robinson said.

The Serenity House Thrift Store at 551 W. Washington St., Sequim, continues to operate seven days a week and will expand weekly pick up of donations from Port Angeles, program officials said.

People with quality items to donate are encouraged to call 683-8269 to schedule pick-up or drop-off.

“All successful thrift stores owe their success to volunteers who make them a warm and bargain-filled place to shop,” Robinson said.

Volunteers interested in supporting the continued success of the Sequim store, or being part of the rebirth of the Port Angeles store, should leave a message at 452-7224 ext. 302 or email doc.robinson@serenityhouseclallam.org.

“With the community behind us, we lift our neighbors and our county,” he added.
