On Sunday, July 11, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Sequim Police officers were dispatched to the Great House Hotel in the 700 block of East Washington Street for a reported suicidal person/disturbance in progress.
When officers arrived they could see a man inside a room on the floor; he was covered in blood. Officers also instructed a second man, who also was covered in blood, to stop but he escaped into another room and locked the door; officers entered the room and detained him.
The men involved are Hae In Yi and Jin Soo Kim.
Both men were reported to be employees of the Great House. According to a witness, they had been drinking together and had a verbal dispute that turned physical. Both men sustained injuries from the physical altercation and were later transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Yi’s injuries were minor and he was released from the hospital Sunday morning before he was brought to the Sequim Police Department and questioned using an interpreter. The 40-year-old was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and booked into the Clallam County Correctional Facility. He also is being held on a Border Patrol detainer, according to the online jail roster.
Kim, who is identified as the victim, was hospitalized with several cuts and puncture wounds to the head, neck and body.
He was not listed as a patient at 2:20 p.m. Monday.
