‘Harvest’ gala raises nearly $125K
Olympic Medical Center Foundation’s Harvest of Hope Gala proved to be the second most successful in its history.
The eighth-annual event raised $124,925 – $15,000 more than last year – to benefit patients being treated at the cancer center in Sequim.
Nearly 200 people gathered at the Sunland Golf & Country Club to celebrate “An Evening in the Pacific Northwest” while raising funds to benefit patients being treated at the Thomas Family Cancer Center at Olympic Medical Center.
“We are delighted that the evening was so incredibly successful and thank our generous sponsors, attendees and individual donors,” said event chair Sara Maloney.
A special and compelling component of the evening, she said, was cancer survivor Dennis Lefevre sharing his story about battling this disease. The audience rewarded his courage by donating $45,150. This was a new record for this portion of the fundraiser, Maloney said.
Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a live auction at the event and the bidding was both spirited and competitive. One of the more popular items was a “ride along” with Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict. This item was so sought after that it was sold twice for $750 each. A total of $19,000 was raised during the live auction.
