An account has been established at First Federal for Royce Stone, a Port Angeles man now in Seattle receiving treatment for heart disease.
Ruby Henning, a longtime friend of Stone’s, said doctors had planned to perform a quadruple bypass on Stone this week but his heart was weaker than anticipated. He is now on medication intended to strengthen his heart in preparation for surgery.
Henning said the 40-year-old had his first heart attack at 25, the result of a congenital disorder that was undetected until that point.
Henning says because of his pre-existing condition, Stone has since been uninsurable. She says his financial difficulties are exacerbated by his inability to work. “They don’t know if he’ll be able to get back to work in construction,” she said.
