A new weekday public transit route from Sequim to the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s campus in Blyn begins operation Monday, Oct. 25. Route No. 50 leaves from the Sequim Transit Center and follows Washington Street, Simdars Road, U.S. Highway 101 to Blyn Crossing and turns around across from the tunnel on Old Blyn Highway. Clallam County Transit vans, each with a capacity of 16-18 passengers, will service the campus four times daily, leaving from Sequim at 7:40 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 2:20 p.m. and 4:50 p.m.
The new route is designed to assist tribal and nontribal patrons and clients in accessing services provided by the tribe and give tribal employees additional options in getting to work. Riders can flag the bus at any point during the route where it is safe for the bus to leave and re-enter highway traffic.
Between Oct. 25-Nov. 29, no fares will be charged to encourage riders for the new route. After the fare-free promotion ends, regular system fees will be charged.
