Sequim Food Bank opens doors on Monday evenings this summer

Working families who need help getting food on the table just got a boost.

The Sequim Food Bank is opening its doors for two hours each Monday night starting June 15, food bank officials announced last week.

"We know there’s a lot of working less fortunate in this town," said food bank board president Stephen Rosales.

"We see them at the Boys and Girls Club. They make $8, $9 an hour and they can’t make it (to the food bank) between 9 a.m. and noon."

Rosales said the food bank, 144 W. Alder St., will have up to 10 volunteers on hand each Monday night, noting that four board members stepped up to help at their recent board meeting.

"We want to make sure no one goes to bed hungry," Rosales said.

Food bank officials are looking for more volunteers, particularly to do some spring-cleaning activities, Rosales said.
