A Sequim man was killed in an early morning rollover in the 4500 block of Sequim-Dungeness Way.
The only occupant and apparent driver, 23-year-old Jeremy Columbus, was ejected and suffered severe head injuries, Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Ley said in a news release.
Peter Loeb, public information officer with Clallam County Fire District 3, said Columbus was unconscious and unresponsive as emergency responders prepared him to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
Three Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies responded, along with Sequim police officers to investigate the collision. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which totaled the Subaru Outback driven by Columbus.
Early indications are that the man was driving northbound when the car veered to the left, leaving the roadway before rolling over and ejecting Columbus. It does not appear seat belts were used, Ley said.
Loeb said a volunteer firefighter/EMT with the Dungeness substation was the first on scene at 1:35 a.m. and an airlift unit was called almost immediately.
