A Jefferson County woman is suspected of abducting her 12-year-old daughter from Sequim yesterday, violating a court custody order.
School video surveillance shows Sarah J. Barton contacting her daughter, Hannah McVay, 12, and leaving the school with her on Wednesday. A court order gave custody of Hannah to her father, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Hollis said in a news release.
After the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department checked Barton’s residence in the Port Ludlow area, law enforcement learned she hadn’t been seen there since the night before, Hollis said.

Barton is described as a 37-year-old white female, 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Barton is believed to be driving a white 1996 Ford Explorer with Washington plates ABW2341.
Hannah is described as a 12-year-old white female, 5 feet 1 inch and about 118 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.
Anyone having any information about the location of Sarah Barton or Hannah McVay is asked to call 911 or the closest law enforcement agency.
