The Sequim City Band welcomes special players for its monthly outdoor concert series at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at the James Center for the Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road.

Three of the band’s past college scholarship winners – Matt Grey, trombone; Jodi Chamberlin, flute; and Naomi Fosket, trumpet – will play with the 60-member band.

Grey is scheduled to play “Blue Topaz,” a concerto on bass trombone.

The Olympic Express Big Band plays an early performance at 2 p.m.

Sequim City Band plays a variety of music including marches, music from movies and musicals, classical, jazz and more with direction from Sanford Feibus.

Concerts are free and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and sunshades.

Outdoor concerts are performed on the third Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. from May-September.

Membership in the city band is open to all musicians on approval of the director. Rehearsals are 7-9 p.m. Mondays in Swisher Hall behind the bandstand.
