The City of Sequim joins forces with United Way of Clallam County to participate in the National Day of Service and Remembrance, Saturday, Sept. 10. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m. at the flagpole outside Sequim City Hall, 152 W. Cedar Street, with a work session running 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
City of Sequim projects include cleaning up Bell Creek, weeding and spreading bark at the Water Reuse Demonstration Park, finishing the dog agility park at Carrie Blake Park and painting fire hydrants throughout the city.
United Way projects are held at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, Sequim Food Bank, Sequim Community School and at a private residence for Volunteer Chore Services.
To paint fire hydrants, meet at city hall for the opening ceremonies; if you attend later, go to the Water Reuse Demonstration Park.
The Water Reuse Demonstration Park’s parking lot closes for the event from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., with increased traffic on Blake Avenue as well.
Weather is expected to be warm, so officials advise dressing appropriately.
The City of Sequim will provide equipment for projects, but volunteers are encouraged to bring shovels, rakes and gloves.
For more information, call Sequim City Hall at 683-4139 or call United Way at 457-3011.
