At 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, Natasha Rutherford, 24, of Port Angeles, crashed a 1995 Dodge Neon into a tree and later died.

She was driving west on U.S. Highway 101 approaching West Sequim Bay Road and veered off to the right, crossing a driveway and hitting a tree.

Rutherford was not wearing a seat belt and was the only one in the vehicle.

She was transported to Sequim High School for an airlift.

Clallam County Fire District 3 and Airlift Northwest performed CPR at the site, but Rutherford was pronounced dead.

The coroner took her to Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles.

Washington State Patrol reported they are not sure why the vehicle left the roadway.

Toxicology reports on whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors will be released only to family members.

The incident remains under investigation.
