125th anniversary, community picnic planned

Members of the Puget Sound Cooperative Colony built the First Congregational Church, the first church in Port Angeles, 125 years ago. Today that building is home to the Serenity House Thrift Store.

There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 to remember the 125th anniversary of the building and to thank those who have made the restoration work possible.

At noon Celebrate Heritage will have an old-fashioned country picnic sponsored by First Federal Bank. The picnic will be in Jessie Webster Park. There will be live music, ice cream, lemonade, old-fashioned games and prizes.
