94-year-old fantastic on the fiddle

Prairie Springs residents enjoy Old Time Fiddlers concert

Residents of Prairie Springs Assisted Living, 680 W. Prairie St., got the chance to boogie in the mess hall on Feb. 8, to the tunes of the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association.
Some of the Old Time Fiddlers playing regular shows include, from left, Eldon Dennis, Ralph Byers, Bill Camuso and Jack Reagan.
Front and center for a few songs was 94-year old Ralph Byers, who turns 95 on April 9. He founded the Washington Old Time Fiddlers District 15, which includes Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Sequim. He is the oldest member.
Several members played for more than an hour, including Rita Hubbard, president of the local district.
Some upcoming performances and jam sessions include:
• Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road
All players jam, noon-1:30 p.m., performance, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Free and open to the public. Donations support fiddler scholarships.
• Sunday, March 18: Annual Spring Concert, 2 p.m., Sequim High School Performing Arts Center, 533 N. Sequim Ave.
