Quilcene couple facing burglary charges

The Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office filed first-degree burglary charges Jan. 23 against a Quilcene couple accused of breaking into a Sequim home, then assaulting and threatening the residents.

Rachena Frantz, 30, and Joseph Frantz, 39, are suspected of unlawfully entering a home on Madrona Way in Sequim at 5 p.m. Jan. 18 with two other men.

Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies said the five suspects demanded money from the residents. Rachena Frantz assaulted an adult female resident by punching her repeatedly in the head and also assaulted the resident’s 13-year-old daughter by pushing her, deputies said.

Joseph Frantz threatened to kill the resident if she contacted police, according to court documents.

Deputies found Rachena and Joseph Frantz driving on U.S. Highway 101 west of Blyn and pulled them over. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary and assault and booked in the Clallam County jail.

Joseph Frantz is charged with first-degree burglary, a Class A felony, and intimidating a witness, a Class B felony. Rachena Frantz is charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor.

Rachena Frantz was released on the condition she be placed on electronic home monitoring. Joseph Frantz was released on $10,000 bail.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 27 in Clallam County Superior Court.
