Sequim’s very own That Takes the Cake is in strong contention to win being featured on KING-5’s “Evening Magazine” in the station’s Best of Western Washington contest. Consumers vote for “the best of the best” in a number of business and retail categories.
Known in Sequim for her delectable cakes and cupcakes, owner Sue Boucher, who owns the bakery with her husband, Paul, is excited about the prospect of KING’s cameras focusing on Sequim.
“We’re in the wedding cake section because that’s what I do mostly, have done for 28 years, she said. A bit modestly, Boucher said Sequimites should vote for That Takes the Cake because, “I have yummy cakes, all made fresh every day. We try our hardest and love what we do.”
Currently, That Takes the Cake is in second place to Celebrity Cake Studio of Tacoma, “which wins almost every year,” according to Boucher, “but we’re trying. We love our customers and appreciate any votes we get.”
Vote by Oct. 15 at www.king5.com/evening magazine or on Boucher’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/thattakesthecakes (cakes plural).
That Takes the Cake opened at 171 W. Washington St. in February 2012.
