Visitors and locals enjoy time at Hollywood Beach in Port Angeles in early June during the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. Detection of bacteria has led county officials to close the beach to wading and swimming.

Clallam County Health and Human Services reports that Hollywood beach is now open.

Samples of the water taken July 6 show the concentration of E.coli bacteria has returned to safe levels and is below the Washington State Department of Health swimming beach closure level for Enterococcus.

The beach was temporarily closed by the Clallam County Health and Human Services Environmental Health on July 2 because of high levels of E.coli bacteria.
