Ben Andrews officially became the Clallam County Fire District 3 fire chief on Tuesday, Aug. 4, and with help from his dad Richard Andrews and Fire Commissioner James Barnfather he received his new badge at a special ceremony in the fire station headquarters.
Andrews also recognized Eric Quitslund for becoming new Assistant Chief of Logistics and Tony Hudson the new Assistant Chief of Operations. They join Assistant Chief Roger Moeder, the fire marshal.
Andrews was formerly the Assistant Chief of Operations, Hudson was formerly Assistant Chief of Logistics and Quitslund was formerly the volunteer coordinator and in charge of policy and procedures.
Andrews follows Fire Chief Steve Vogel who retired earlier this year after 34 years of service in Sequim with nearly 15 of those as fire chief.
Andrews joined the Sequim crew in 2003 after 10 years as a lieutenant with Jefferson County Fire District 3.
On hand for the ceremony were family and friends of the recently promoted along with fire commissioners and fellow firefighters and EMTs.
