Free clinic announces newest board member

Sequim resident Kathryn A. Gates has been appointed to the Dungeness Health & Wellness Clinic’s board of directors as its new secretary.

“We appreciate her assuming the role of secretary in the middle of the year when the vacancy became available,” board president Dr. Audrey Gift said. “Kathryn is a valuable member of the board and is skilled in appropriate record keeping.”

Gates joins Gift, the Rev. Bill Green as vice president and Jerry Sinn as treasurer.

Gates served as a branch manager for Columbia Bank in Sequim and after the bank was bought out, she stayed on staff to assist with the conversion.

Prior to coming to Sequim, Gates had experience in the banking and mortgages industries in Washington and Oregon and served as bank manager in various locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the board of an organization that is critical to many individuals who would be unable to receive health care by any other means,” Gates said.

“It is so important to support the efforts of those health care providers and other volunteers in our community who help the underserved. From wellness education, health care, referral services and prescription assistance, the clinic fills a void.”

Gates also volunteers for the Sequim Irrigation Festival board of directors and is active with the Sequim Sunrise Rotary.

Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic is the Sequim free clinic that provides access to health care for the underserved in the community and promotes wellness. The clinic is committed to remaining a free clinic in the ever-changing world of health care and is supported in part by donations from the business community, individuals and grants.
