Leesville, La., native Taliesin Brocato, a descendant of two Sequim-Dungeness Valley pioneer families, got inspired to contribute to the Sequim Museum this summer.

Brocato donated paracord bracelets and key chains — adding a little touch of Sequim, a mastodon pendant — that earned the museum $145 in donations (so far) as well as hours toward a Girl Scout merit badge.

Brocato’s great-great-great-grandparents arrived by steamship at the Dungeness dock in 1898. Volunteerism is in her blood: her mother, Anistasia Stipe, is a longtime volunteer at Fort Polk, La., and grandparents Judy and Bob Stipe are well known in Sequim for their community contributions.
