You Shall Not Pass (Sorry)

Heavy rains and flooding last week left their mark on several areas around Olympic National Park.

In the Elwha Valley, recent repairs to the Olympic Hot Springs Road and Whiskey Bend Road appear to have survived the storm intact, but other areas in the valley have seen extensive damage.

There also was heavy damage to the Elwha Campground and to the Altair Campground further upstream.

Condition assessments continue in the Elwha and elsewhere throughout the park.

The North Shore Quinault Road and Graves Creek Road were both damaged by washouts and remain closed.

The Sol Duc Road and Hurricane Ridge Road are closed this weekend due to snow, as road crew staff attend to storm impacts around the rest of the park. Hurricane Ridge Road is scheduled to be open Friday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Nov. 29.

Weather permitting, Hurricane Ridge Road will be open Friday through Sunday through March 27, 2016. The Kalaloch, Mora, Ozette, Hoh, Lake Crescent and Staircase areas are open. Photo courtesy of Olympic National Park
