Sequim police continue work following armed robbery

Sequim police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at 3:45 a.m., today, Friday, Jan. 29, at Sequim West Inn, 740 W. Washington St.

The victim opened the door to his rented room after a woman, Shelby Schleve, 21, known by the victim, knocked.

Once the door was opened, a man the victim doesn’t report knowing entered the room.

Armed with a small handgun, the man demanded money and valuables.After collecting the victim’s money and other items of some value, Schleve and the gunman fled the room leaving the victim in the room alone, Det. Sgt. Sean Madison, said.

No injuries were reported having occurred during the incident.Madison and his colleagues are looking for both Schleve and the gunman in connection with the robbery.

Schleve is described as a white female with light brown hair. She’s about 5-foot-10-inches and weighs about 160 pounds, with an unknown residence.

The unidentified gunman is described as being about 5-foot-9-inches, weighing between 210-249 pounds with a “heavy or stocky” build, Madison said.

Sequim police are investigating an armed robbery that happened in the early morning hours today, Friday, Jan. 29, at the Sequim West Inn, 740 W. Washington St.

According to law enforcement officials, the robbery victim reported a person he knew knocked on the door of his rented room at about 3:45 a.m. But when he answered the door, an armed man the victim did not know entered the room and demanded money and valuables. The suspect was armed with a smaller handgun. No shots were fired.

After collecting the victim’s money and other items, the robbery suspect or suspects fled the room leaving the victim in the room alone and uninjured.

“All evidence suggests that this was not a random crime, and the victim in this case was specifically targeted,” Detective Sergeant Sean Madison said.

Sequim police are investigating the incident further.
