Substitute job opportunities at Sequim schools
Published 9:16 pm Tuesday, May 3, 2016
The Sequim School District has substitute job opportunities now open. There are several types of substitutes in the district including substitute teachers, support staff para-educators, bus drivers and custodians.
Substitute teachers or guest teachers serve in the absence of a regular contracted teacher. Guest teachers must hold a valid Washington State Substitute Teaching certificate. An Emergency Substitute Teaching Certificate may be acquired for certain individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree and are requested by the school district to obtain this certificate.
Support staff paraprofessional substitutes serve in the absence of a regular support staff employee. If you are interested in gaining experience in a field other than teaching, a support staff substitute may be the position for you. Support staff substitutes are not required to hold a certificate, but if they are looking to become hired as a regular employee, they must hold an AA degree or have 72 college level credits.
The custodian performs general housekeeping duties in the absence of the regular custodian. Substitutes must understand the relevance of a clean and safe environment and its impact on learning.
Substitute bus drivers transport students and other authorized persons safely and efficiently on regular “to and from” school routes, field trips, extra-curricular and/or special activity trips. The Sequim School District will provide required training to anyone interested in becoming a substitute bus driver.
If you are interested in becoming a substitute for the Sequim School District, view the Sequim School District website at www.sequim.k12.wa.us and explore its Employment site to complete an online application.
