Much thanks for grange socials’ success

The Sequim Prairie Grange would like to thank all of the folks who helped to make our ice cream socials a big success this summer: the donations of bananas from Sunny Farms, the banana boats from Dairy Queen and a special discount on the ice cream from Safeway.

Also, my very special crew that worked all of these events, gathered together by my partner Loretta Bilow, and of course all you folks that attended. The first two socials were used to bring our bathrooms up to code and the last one in August made it possible for the Grange to give a check to the Willy Rookard Donation Fund in the amount of $2,525.65. Sequim — your participation made all of this possible and we’re grateful.

Supreme Court needs common sense

I am a simple man, ergo I believe the present world is deliberately made more complicated than it needs to be.

Case in point: The United States Supreme Court.

In my opinion, Supreme Court Justices need not have been lawyers or have any background in law.

What they need is judgment based upon common sense and fluency in two languages: English and Legalese. English, because our Constitution is written in English, and Legalese in order to glean facts from obfuscation.

Supreme Court Justices are concerned with only one document: The Constitution of the United States. That document is not open to interpretation for it is most succinctly and clearly written.

All Supreme Court Justices need do is determine whether or not the case before them is constitutional and act accordingly.

Finally, there are legal scholars and so-called Constitutional authorities who make their living trying to convince everyone that our Constitution is open to interpretation. They do not believe that the Constitution is the basic law of the land and attempt to twist its meaning to reflect their personal ideology.

I maintain that anyone with a good grasp of the English language can read and understand our Constitution and they don’t require anyone to tell them what it means — because it means what it says.

Thanks for the help

The Woolsey Court Condominium Owners Association wishes to express its thanks to the Irrigation Festival Committee members and other volunteers who spruced up the Old White Barn property at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Evergreen Farm Way.

The barn received refurbishing of the exterior walls, a fresh coat of paint and replacement of some windows.

It is understood that a new roof is planned in the future.

The trees and shrubs on the property also were trimmed, further enhancing the inviting, manicured and well-maintained look at the corner entrance.

Woolsey Court Condominium Owners Association is proud of its property and is pleased to be bordered by the Old White Barn property.
