Between 63 pieces of art and 28 artists, visitors to the Olympic Peninsula Art Association’s “Member’s Art Show” from Oct. 13-16 in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sequim had a tough time choosing their favorite.
One vote separated George Zien of Sequim’s watercolor “The Raven” and Virgil Goodman of Port Angeles’ brass sculpture “Mountain Cabin.”
It was both men’s first time entering their pieces in a competition and Goodman’s first time entering the show. However, Zien, who said he entered the show many years ago, came out on top.
Event chairman Marilynn Evans said more than 100 people voted on the art that varied in mediums and skill levels.
The Olympic Peninsula Art Association, formerly Sequim Arts, is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts on the North Olympic Peninsula since 1969. The group plans to announce more information about its spring juried show soon. Look for more information at www.sequimarts.org.
