The Lady Wolves’s soccer squad (5-2 in league, 8-3 overall) has a busy week ahead as the team looks to secure second place in the Olympic League in the second to last week of the regular season.
Last week, Sequim swept the season match-up with Coupeville (6-4-1) in a 2-0 win at home on Oct. 11.
The game was scoreless through the first half but Abby Hansted and Hope Glasser both gave the Wolves the game’s only goals.
“It was a good mid-season test as the Wolves were able to work on several aspects of their game,” said head coach Derek Vander Velde.
As a team, Sequim has seven shots and goalkeeper Claire Henninger had four saves.
Sequim last defeated Coupeville across the water 3-1 on Sept. 15.
A decisive match on Oct. 13 against North Mason (4-4, 4-5-2) was rescheduled to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, so now the Wolves will face a challenging week. They traveled to North Kitsap (6-3, 7-4) on Oct. 18 and host Port Angeles (4-4, 6-5) on Thursday, Oct. 20, then host North Mason’s Bulldogs on Saturday.
Sequim has won all of its match-ups with their opponents this week.
They won 2-1 Sept. 20 in North Mason, 1-0 at home on Sept. 22 against North Kitsap, 1-0 on Sept. 27 in Port Angeles. The North Kitsap and Port Angeles games were won in penalty kicks and North Mason in overtime.
