Snow strikes Sequim

Snowy conditions of an estimated 3-6 inches across the Sequim-Dungeness area on Sunday and Monday led locals to adjust for at least a few days.
The Sequim School District closed school on Monday, Feb. 6, due to inclement weather and set a two-hour delay on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Murreys Disposal Company, Inc. also cancelled its garbage, recycling and waste services due to the weather on Monday. too. However, company officials said impacted customers can set out double their normal material on the next service date and additional material in bags or boxes.
Officials with Washington Water Service Company which operates water services in Diamond Point said cold weather earlier this week may have contributed to a temporary water shortage on Tuesday.
Shawn O’Dell, Northwest regional operations manager for the water company, said the break in the water line could potentially be related to the increased water in the area from rain and snowfall. Crews were sent out to evaluate and make repairs on the line break that occurred in the morning and into the afternoon. O’Dell said he anticipated the line would be fixed by the end of the business day.
Clallam PUD officials said no power outages were reported in the Sequim area.
A one-vehicle rollover wreck by 7 Cedars Casino on U.S. Highway 101 was reported to first responders on Monday with no injuries.
