Elks Lodge bazaar set

The Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, hosts its annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25. The bazaar features one-of-a-kind items, holiday décor, glass, jewelry, clothing and more. Fourth Friday about ‘Tradition’

The next Fourth Friday Readings is set for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 24 at The Lodge’s media room at 660 Evergreen Farm Way.

The event — the final Fourth Friday Reading of the season — is sponsored by Writers on the Spit and is composed of five-minute open mic readings. The suggested theme for this evening is “Tradition.” Attendees are encouraged to bring poems, short-short stories or memoir/novel snippets. Rehearse in advance, as readings are timed. Poetry reading at tribal library

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Library presents a poetry reading from Duane Niatum at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Campus’ Red Cedar Hall, 1033 Old Blyn Highway. The event is open to the public, and is appropriate for all ages. Niatum, a Jamestown S’Klallam elder, will be reading from his body of work. He has been writing poems, stories and essays for more than 50 years. He was honored in October with the Native Writers’ Circle of the American 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Anniversary Returning the Gift Festival in Norman, Okla. His work has been translated into 14 languages.

Library talk set on ‘The Gilded Hour’

“The Gilded Hour” by Sara Donati is the next book up for discussion at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., set for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The meeting has been moved from a normally scheduled date because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Copies of “The Gilded Hour” are available in various formats including regular print, book on CD, and downloadable eBook and eAudioBook. They may be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org. All are welcome to drop in and participate. This program is supported by the Friends of Sequim Library.

Lavender bazaar set at Sunland

The 15th Lavender Holiday Bazaar is set for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Dr.

This free annual holiday bazaar sees all proceeds from its raffle going to local charities; this year’s recipients are Toys for Tots and the American Red Cross.

Craft fair comes to Sequim grange

The Sequim Prairie Grange is hosting a Homemade Craft Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at 290 Macleay Road. The event features more than 30 vendors and a bake table, and the kitchen will be open for lunch. For more information, call Joy Barrett at 360-683-7021.

Strait Turners to meet

The next meeting of the Strait Turners woodturners group is from 9:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road, Sequim. Jimmie Allen is the featured presenter on the topic of lidded boxes. He will be using his own crafted tools to create his signature style of boxes.

Patterson releases album

Award-winning local artist Priscilla Patterson has released her newest CD, “Christmas From the Heart,” featuring songs of love and friendship to celebrate the season.

The album will be available at the Blue Whole Gallery through Christmas. It is also at Pacific Pantry through November and will be at Lamb Farm Kitchen during the month of December. The CD features musical accompaniment by Al Harris, photography by Jan Kepley and was recorded at Jeremy Cays Studio.
