Property taxes are due April 30

Taxpayers in Clallam County have until Monday, April 30, to pay their first half property taxes for 2018.
Property tax payments must be postmarked or dropped off at the Clallam County Courthouse by Monday, April 30; mail dropped in a U.S. postal mailbox after the post office pick-up time may result in a postmark of May 1 and will be considered delinquent, according to Clallam County Treasurer Teresa Marchi.
The only drop-off location is a gray drop box specifically designated for property tax payments and other courthouse business located within the circular drive at the Clallam County Courthouse on Fourth Street. Taxpayers who require a receipt are asked to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with their payment.
The Treasurer’s Office can accept most credit and debit cards, either at the Treasurer’s Office counter or online at www.clallam.net/Treasurer; a convenience fee will be charged by the credit and/or debit card provider.
Payments postmarked or dropped off at the County courthouse after April 30 are delinquent and subject to 1 percent interest on the full year amount, Marchi said last week. On June 1, an additional 1 percent interest and 3 percent penalty will be charged on the full year tax amount.
There is no change to the 2018 taxes that were mailed in February, Marchi noted, as Senate Bill 6614 will be enacted in 2019. The state property tax levy will be lowered from $2.70 per $1,000 of assessed value to $2.40.
