City seeks committees for transportation ballot measure
Published 1:30 am Wednesday, May 2, 2018
Following Sequim City Council’s March decision to ask voters to renew the Transportation Benefit District on the November General Election ballot, they now seek committee members for and against the proposal.
Up to three council-appointed members for or against would help draft statements no longer than 200 words for the Clallam County Voter’s Pamphlet.
Statements must be completed by the committees and submitted to Clallam County Elections no later than August 7, 2018.
If approved by the voters, the ballot measure would authorize the renewal of the 10-year collection of a two-tenths of one percent sales tax within city limits for projects identified in the City’s Transportation Improvement Program, i.e. street paving, sidewalk and pathway construction, and safety work.
Those interested should submit their name, contact information, and a brief statement as to why they would like to serve on one of the committees. Deadline to apply is Friday, May 18.
Letters of interest will be submitted to the Sequim City Council for review and appointment at their May 28 meeting.
Submit letters of interest to the City Clerk’s Office at “Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., Sequim, WA, 98382,” or email kkuznek@sequimwa.gov.
For more information, call City Clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese at (360) 681-3428.
