Fifth Street Second Saturday Walks occur rain or shine — and thanks to a dry spell there has been more shine of late.

From 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, veteran Master Gardeners Bob Cain, Audreen Williams, Jan Bartron and Laurel Moulton lead a Second Saturday Garden Walk through the Fifth Street Community Garden, 328 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.

There they will examine what is happening in local vegetable gardens and berry patches in August. Topics to be covered this month include getting tomatoes to ripen, harvesting and growing onions, growing cover crops and more.

This educational event is free and open to the public.
