A little wet weather didn’t damper the festivities — nor the fundraising — at an event to support the Sequim Wheelers organization on Sept. 18.

Founder Nicole Lepping said the event, hosted by Discovery Memory Care, raised nearly $1,200 for the nonprofit organization that offers free, adaptive wheelchair bike rides, on a duet or opair wheelchair bicycle, to elderly and disabled community members, including children.

Additional donations came in the same day from a corresponding bake sale and an online donation, Lepping said, raising the figure to nearly $1,600.

Staff from Discovery Memory Care and Wright’s Home Care along with other volunteers took part in

The event also featured music from Old Sidekicks and Just in Thyme, entertainment from the Laff Pack, plus popcorn, snow cones, a bake sale and a yard sale.
