Tickets available for Christmas concert

Tickets are on sale now for Shipley Center’s Christmas Concert, set for 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at 921 E. Hammond St.

The concert includes holiday favorites performed by the Grand Olympics Chorus, Olympic Peninsula Ukulele Strummers and The Senior Singers from Shipley Center.

Tickets are $5 for members, $8 for non-members. Light refreshments are included in the ticket price.

Get tickets at the center, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and some tickets will be sold at the door.

Monday Musicale hosts free concert

The Monday Musicale group hosts its monthly meeting at noon on Monday, Dec. 16, at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church’s fellowship hall, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.

Following the meeting is a free concert with guests Marlene Moore (cello) and Kristin Quigley Brye (piano); the pair will play a variety of selections, including some Christmas music.

The public is invited to attend this free concert. Attendees are encouraged to wear something festive for the event.

Neal sets book-signing

Local author/columnist Pat Neal will be signing copies of his latest book, “WildLife Volume 3: Fisherman’s Holidays” from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Brian’s Sporting Goods & More, 609 W. Washington St.

Neal is a Hoh River fishing and rafting guide who writes a weekly wilderness gossip column on the commentary page of the Peninsula Daily News.

“Fisherman’s Holidays” is Neal’s fourth compilation of his newspaper columns written from his research as an Olympic Peninsula historian and the life of a guide on the rainforest rivers of the Olympic Peninsula.

PA Players stage farce

Already playing to audiences, the Port Angeles Community Players newest production, “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Production of A Christmas Carol” is full of sight gags, clashing egos, an enthusiastic group of actors, dozens of characters, many costume changes, audience participation and many things that go wrong.

The play runs Dec. 13-14, 17 and 20-21 at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 15 and 22 at 2 p.m., all at the PA Community Playhouse 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angles.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students (the Dec. 17 performance is $8 for all) and are available at the door or online at pacommunity players.org.

The cast includes Anita Bonham, Barbara Frederick, Lynne Murphy, Cari Stricker and Ken Winters.

Christmas singing bowl session set

Sophia Engkvist hosts Christmas Singing Bowls with Sophia, an event set for 3-4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 254 N. Bagley Creek Road, Port Angeles. Admission is a suggested donation of $10. A special holiday “sound bath” includes quartz singing bowls and Engkvist’s singing. Bring mats, or seating, blankets and cushions will be available. Book group topic, ‘We Were the Lucky Ones’

The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group meets to talk about Georgia Hunter’s “We Were the Lucky Ones” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

A novel based on the true story of a family of Polish Jews who are separated at the start of the Second World War, the family members are determined to survive and reunite.

To participate, simply read the book and attend the discussion; no reservations are needed, and drop-ins are welcome.
