GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Students in Sheri Burke’s and Shannon Green’s class celebrated the end of their Roman unit by dressing as generals, patricians, plebeians and gladiators. They had a feast and watched the animated movie, “Gladiator.” All students agreed that Rome was a great empire, and then a republic. They enjoyed this unit of study!

HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Launching Learners has provided an opportunity for kindergartners to boost their reading skills after the bell rings. Each Tuesday and Thursday after school, from Jan. 14-Feb.20, these young learners have engaged in small group activities.

Many people take the act of reading for granted. For some, however, learning to read is not that simple. During primary years it is important for children to master reading fundamentals such as associating sounds with written words. In these past few weeks, students have participated in a rotation of activities led by kindergarten teachers that allow them practice recognizing the sounds that letters make, sounding out words and writing letters and words.
