Free guardianship seminar set for Jan. 28

Clallam County Parent to Parent is hosting a free virtual Guardianship 101 seminar starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, via Zoom.
When an individual turns 18 years of age, it is expected that they will take responsibility for their decisions concerning medical treatment, finances and general life activities, program organizers note; for an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities the full understanding of these decisions and the consequences of these decisions may require support. Guardianship is one form of support.
Presented by the Law Office of Patrick M. Erker, the seminar will address the following questions, among others: What is a guardianship? What are the benefits and the consequences? Does one’s child or sibling, need a guardian? Who should be named a guardian? What are the powers and duties of a guardian?
