Santa brought along a friendly Grinch and some first responder friends with Clallam County Fire District 3 for a good cause last week.

Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade rolled through Sequim Dec. 5-9, collecting toys for the Toys for Sequim Kids event on Dec. 15 as well as monetary donations for Sequim Community Aid and Sequim Food Bank.

The brigade culminated with volunteers parking at Centennial Place, the northeast corner of Washington Street/Sequim Avenue, on Dec. 9, despite a heavy windstorm. They roasted hot dogs and played music.

Co-organizer/co-Santa Len Horst with Fire District 3 said along with toys, organizers received about $1,200 in monetary donations to split between Sequim Community Aid and Sequim Food Bank.

He also said Sunland residents were very generous and awaiting the antique fire truck to arrive on Dec. 8.
